2016 Design Trends: Showcase the Pantone Color of the Year in your kitchen

Toll Brothers’ vendor partner KitchenAid, the only appliance brand that
exclusively makes products for the kitchen, contributed to this story.

Your kitchen is a centerpiece of your home, so you want to make sure you have all the right colors. To help you bring Rose Quartz and Serenity – recently announced as 2016 Color of the Year selections by the Pantone Color Institute – into your home, Toll Brothers’ vendor partner KitchenAid will include colors just like them for their iconic Stand Mixers by the middle of 2016.

Already, there are Stand Mixers available in Cornflower Blue, a blue shade that parallels PANTONE 15-3919 Serenity. Also, Guava Glaze, a warm pink tone based on PANTONE 13-1520 Rose Quartz, will be added to the Stand Mixer color palette in July 2016.

Color experts at the Pantone Color Institute select a color of the year “that reflects what’s taking place in our global culture at this moment in time,” according to the Institute. This year, PANTONE is celebrating Rose Quartz and Serenity as a dual color selection representing “a harmonious pairing of inviting shades that embody a mindset of tranquility and inner peace.”

Color has been a vital part of the success of the KitchenAid brand ever since it introduced Antique Copper, Island Green, Petal Pink, Satin Chrome, and Sunny Yellow appliances in 1955. That’s why KitchenAid constantly refreshes its engineering and color palette to stay ahead of the curve, according to Beth Robinson, senior manager of brand experience for KitchenAid.

To determine its colors and design, KitchenAid researches global cultural, societal, and consumer trends, including fashion, home décor, consumer electronics, and what and how consumers are cooking. So, how does Pantone make the connection between colors and the current cultural mood? Here is some of the rationale from the Color of the Year announcement:

“As consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to the stress of modern day lives, welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill the yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent. Weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, Serenity comforts with a calming effect, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times. Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure.”

Wouldn’t the iconic KitchenAid Stand Mixer look great on the countertop in your new Toll Brothers home?
